Any Geophysicist will understand the importance of processing and visualisation software when it comes to the task of interpreting the masses of data gathered from a GPR survey. Suitable post processing and visualisation software is essential. Over recent years, 3D visualisation has become a must have for all GPR users. The ability to produce time slices which can show the layout of features below ground is essential. These can be used by the Geophysicist, to produce presentations and reports which may be clearly understood by clients, such as Archaeologists and Civil Engineers. For this reason most GPR manufacturers offer a software suite tailored to this requirement.
The Synchro2 software for use with the VIY2 series of GPR from Transient Technologies is only able to provide a post processed 2D visualisation of a single scan. Such scans are often difficult to interpret, and appear to most clients as a series of meaningless squiggly lines.
We here at Sub Ground Imaging realised the limitations of this, both for ourselves and our customers. We evaluated several Open Source 3D visualisation options but non performed as required, and all were felt to be not at all user friendly. As with most open source options none had any customer support.
Our search for a suitable commercial software package, led us to Sandmeier Scientific Software who are well known for their excellent products, and are specialists in the field of GPR data processing software, being well respected and having many satisfied customers Worldwide. Sandmeier Software is used by operators of all the well known makes of GPR, both in Universities and the private sector. Their software offers high performance and a rich feature set at a price which makes it easily affordable.

This made Sandmeier Scientific Software the obvious choice for a processing package for use with the VIY2 series.
As a result of this, in close co-operation with Vladimir Ivashchuk of Transient Technologies, an upgrade to Synchro2 is being produced. This upgrade will provide the ability to export files which may be used with Reflex3DScan and Reflex2dQuick from Sandmeier Scientific Software and is also compatible with their flagship product ReflexW.
The combination of Reflex3DScan with the VIY2 series of GPR systems will offer users outstanding performance and value for money. We will include Reflex3DScan with all our GPR packages. We will of course be using it extensively ourselves!
